take me out to the ballgame: transportable recipes to bring to the field.
I tried so hard to be an athlete growing up. Any by tried, I mean…
I begged my mom to put me into dance. I was 10, however, taking my first dance class…with a bunch of 6 year olds who were, like me, just getting started. And I was an early bloomer. Enter the awkward years…
I played club volleyball (we were awful) in junior high, followed by a stellar career in high school (we as a team were good, I however was not). You know those awards they pass out for “most encouraging”, “most spirited”? Yeah…
I’ve tried forever to be a runner. I took a class in college that required all students to run 20 miles a week. I might have walked 20 miles, but never ran more than I’d say 2 miles at a time (ok, that’s probably exaggerating…it was more like 1.33 miles). A doctor last year delivered the bad news that I wouldn’t be able to run any more because of an ankle injury. SWEET, I mean, DARN…
But may my lack of coordination and athleticism never stop my children from taking to the field! I fully intend to cheer my kids on at every practice and game they are in, and gosh darn it we’ll be eating well while we are there! So here are some recipes you can take with you to soccer practice or baseball games, ones that transport easily and will refuel any team.
See you out there!
