I don’t know, guys. I think I might have a problem.
Last weekend I went on a girls bachelorette weekend and we wine-tasted it up like it was our job. I ran the numbers and think we tried something like 27 different wines – deep and bold as well as light and fruity reds, sweet and dry whites, summery pinks. At the end of the weekend I was so over wine that all I wanted to do was drink lemon water and Green Machine.
Except that about 48 seconds later I found myself in Trader Joes, where this Hogue Cellars late harvest white wine was a hussle buy at $1.99. $1.99! I really can’t pass up a great deal, so I literally stopped a man in the store to make sure I was reading the sign correctly and then promptly purchased several bottles to keep on hand through the summer.
Boy is this sweet. They aren’t kidding when they add a few extra “eee’s” to the name just in case you had any doubt about it being a Sweeeet Riesling. But for a summer evening, paired with fruit and cheese, this is a great wine.
COST: $1.99 if you can pick it up at Trader Joes while it lasts, or about $6-8 at most grocery stores.
Happy Friday!
