wine friday: smoking loon pinot noir.
Normally I wouldn’t be at all interested in buying anything with the word “smoking” in it unless, that is, I’m planning on some really great bbq. I don’t actually have a great track record with smoking. One of my first attempts was a total failure, my college roommate and I trying desperately to light a cigar we bought at the local Seven Eleven in honor of my 18th birthday. Apparantly you have to actually cut off the end in order to successfully light it.
But I digress.
This Pinot is “Light garnet in color, fresh crushed raspberries, strawberries, and cranberries are all in the aroma of this bright, fruit-driven Pinot Noir, with a hint of cinnamon stick and spice in the background. On the palate, pomegranate and cranberry fruit have a zesty appeal, paired with the subtle, classic underbrush character that distinguishes Pinot Noir. Moderately light bodied, the soft tannins and fresh acidity strike a nice balance, creating a light finish with red fruit and a touch of spice.” This is according to their winemaker.
Well, whatever…I just thought it was pretty good for the $6 investment.
For your consideration, Smoking Loon Pinot Noir
